Description of the Product Spring scissors like this were already used in the bronze age dating over 4000 years back. These scissors are made of steel, but the design was just the same when spring scissors were made from bronze. Pivoting scissors (the only scissor style we know and use nowadays) were already invented by the Romans at approx. 100 AD, but spring scissors like our model were the most common style through Early and Middle Ages. The common use of spring scissors continued in Europe through the middle Ages till 16th Century. Spring scissors like our model were very common grave good during the Viking Era for example in Finland and we have many surviving samples from burial sites. It seems that small spring scissors like our model were important personal belongings that were gifted to the person for the afterlife.
