Description of the Product These earrings depict a motif of a so-called gripping beast. The earrings are modeled after a Viking Age brooch from Norway. Gripping beast is made in Borre Style. The Borre Style represents the second phase of the Nordic art style that includes symmetrical, geometric patterns, interlacing ribbons that make knots around itself, beasts that grip the edges of the ornament and itself as a long ribbon-like animal. This style was especially widespread in eastern Scandinavia in the 9th and 10th centuries. The Borre Style is named after the grave find at Borre in Vestfold, Norway, where many finds in this artistic style were excavated.
