Description of the Product This single-action military revolver is also known as SAA (Single Action Army), Colt M1873, Peacemaker Widowmaker, Frontier and Equalizer. The Peacemaker is a six-shooter, meaning it has a revolving cylinder which holds six cartridges. When the hammer is drawn to full cock, the cylinder rotates and places the next bullet into place between the barrel and the hammer. After each shot, the hammer must be manually cocked before firing again. This revolver was designed by Samuel Colt in 1872, and the U.S. military adopted the pistol as standard issue in 1873. Although the revolver was designed to serve in U.S. military use, a large number of American civilians acquired their own within a few years. The gun was carried by ranchers, law enforcement and outlaws alike, and quickly became a Wild West classic. Because this revolver used ammunition of the same caliber as the Winchester rifle, the two grew in popularity together.
